GEHSTEIGALM -> ERLANGER HUT
The start of this hike is at the Gehsteigalm in Tumpen. From there, you turn left onto the clearly narrower mountain path that continues uphill through the open alpine pasture. Initially, it heads northeast, then at a fork, go left on an ascending traverse and over a wide gully to a mountain basin. Behind this, you soon reach the western ridge of the Kreuzjochspitze rising on the right. Here, you can already see the hut in front of you, although it is still quite far away. From now on, the route continues along a beautiful high-altitude path, staying roughly at the same height. Finally, there is one more ascent, where shortly before the hut, a rocky outcrop must be overcome, but this has been made easier with iron chains. The Erlanger Hut is now located in a magnificent and high alpine setting right by the Wettersee.
