Stuiben Breathwork
Breathe freely at Stuiben Breathwork, which takes place several times a week at the bottom of the waterfall. The guided breathing program with a professional trainer has been proven to enhance lung function thanks to the positive effects of water spray (“Stuiben”) which has been scientifically confirmed. A barrier-free e-shuttle takes you to the platform, therefore Stuiben Breathwork is also accessible for older people and people with walking disabilities.
History
The Stuibenfall waterfall was formed in 7000 BC, when the kilometre-high glaciers of the Ice Age receded from the valley and the permafrost thawed. This resulted in a massive landslide, blocking the mountain stream from the Horlachtal valley. In its search for a new path into the valley, Tyrol's largest waterfall was created.
Positive effects on lung function
A preclinical study presented by Paracelsus Medical University of Salzburg has shown that a stay at the Stuiben Falls can significantly improve lung function in case of sports asthma. A one-hour stay close to the water spray of the Stuiben Falls over two to three weeks can improve lung function in sports asthma by up to 58 percent.
