PARKING LOT BETWEEN WINKLEN AND UNTERRIED -> Winkelbergsee -> Footpath junction -> WURZBERGALM
The alp lies at an elevation of 1575 m in an especially quiet location. The start of the route is at the parking lot between the hamlets Winklen and Unterried. A wide forest road leads up the mountain. After about 20 minutes you reach the idyllic Winkelbergsee, a beautiful place to linger. The forest road continues in countless switchbacks towards Wurzbergalm. Alternatively, the narrower footpath (this route is marked), which branches off to the left after about 25 minutes of walking, can be chosen. At the beginning, you still have a chance to catch a glimpse of Längenfeld. Later, the route passes through dense coniferous forest. After just under 4 kilometers you reach the Wurzbergalm. There you can refresh yourself with delicious homemade specialties.
Author’s recommendation
For very sporty people, the ascent via the "Ziegen Peter Steig" is recommended. This path leads partly very steeply directly to the hut.

The hut taxi runs once a week to Wurzbergalm in the summer season.

Roadbook
Between Winklen and Unterried (parking lot by the barrier), the ascent steadily climbs through a beautiful forest to the Wurzbergalm. After about 20 minutes, you reach the small Winkelbergsee hidden in the forest. If you follow the signs further towards Wurzbergalm, you can either choose the wide forest road or take the narrow mountain path, which branches off to the left after about 25 minutes of walking.
At the top, you can refresh yourself in the cozy hut and warm up by the stove in bad weather.

Public transport
Travel comfortably and safely by train. The final stop or exit point is the ÖTZTAL station. Then you travel conveniently and quickly through the entire valley to your desired destination by public bus or local taxi companies.
