The Tour
FISCHBACH BRIDGE - Albin Egger Lienz Way - Oberried - PEST CHAPEL
It rattles, it rustles, it shakes – that is the sound of the 19th century when flax was still cultivated and processed here. The gold of the Ötztal. History you can touch in the extensive open-air museum! Powered by the Lehnbach, the saw, mill, flax shaker, and flax breaker come alive.
The leap through time is effortless, as soon as you enter one of the ten buildings with all its original furniture – including the oldest chest in Tyrol – and work tools. Probably unique in the world is the memory storage in one of the old farmhouses. Everything you ever wanted to know about the valley is stored here. Memories of yesterday, knowledge of today, and expectations for tomorrow. In texts, pictures, audio, and film documents, the Ötztal opens its memory, reveals its secrets, and leads back to the roots. Including Ötztal dialect, intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.
Then visit the Lehner Waterfall.
