On the long route, you pass ancient landslides, idyllic mountain villages, and beautiful landscapes.
The starting point of this bike ride is at the Mure parking lot in Umhausen. From there, follow the Ötztal bike path (No. 11) to the bridge over the Ötztal federal road leading to Köfels. Choose the uphill path toward Köfels and follow the paved road with a moderate incline. After a short while, you ride over the area of an ancient landslide known as the 'Köfler landslide.' About 8,700 years ago, around three cubic kilometers of rock tumbled down into the Ötztal, blocking the flow of the Ötztaler Ache. After passing the small, idyllic village of Köfels at 1,400 meters, the marked forest road to Wurzberg Alm begins on the left. The inclines on the wide gravel road are partly easy to ride, so nothing stands in the way of a relaxed stop at the Alm, located at 1,575 meters. From there, continue down the forest road toward Winklen in Längenfeld. From there, follow the Ötztal bike path (No. 11) back to Umhausen.
