Map & elevation profile

  • Due to timber work, caches 1+2 are not accessible.

The pilgrimage church Maria Hilf is the starting point of the contemplation path, about 20m below the church the path leads you gently uphill through the meadows and forests of Gries.

The pilgrimage church Maria Hilf, starting point of the contemplation path, invites you to rest with its spiritual atmosphere. The circular hiking trail meanders gently through green meadows and forests of Gries, past the Way of the Cross stations to the newly built viewing platform. From there a wonderful view opens onto the picturesque mountain village, framed by the majestic peaks of the Stubai Alps such as the Schrankogel and the Mutterberg lake peak. The path then leads gently downhill to the collegiate chapel.

How do you find your treasure? Along the marked route there are small caches (treasure boxes). Each cache contains secret letters. Enter all letters in your treasure map. Only those who have collected all letters can form the solution word. With this solution word you can pick up a gift at the Längenfeld information point! (For children).

Safety guidelines

Stay on the path

You start at the pilgrimage church and walk along the road downstream and after about 20m turn right. The gentle ascent leads you up the mountain into the forest. Right at the beginning you may search for the first cache. Then you continue on a wide meadow path above Gries through meadows and forests. The path leads you to a viewing platform. Also here don't forget to look for the second cache.

From here you also have a wonderful view of the small mountain village, in the background the distinctive mountains of the Stubai Alps with the Schrankogel and the Mutterberg lake peak.

After you have recovered the second cache and returned, you continue on the path. At a junction, where you can also see a power pole, the next cache is already waiting for you. Then the path leads you gently downhill. On this path you can take a rest on a bench. Shortly before you leave the forest don't forget to look for the fourth cache. This one is a little below the path. Now you come from the forest onto the meadows and soon to the collegiate chapel. Here you find the final, the fifth cache.  Now follow the main road back to the starting point.
