    PICTURE-BOOK ALMS

Pure idyll can be found in the small mountain village of Niederthai; a little further it becomes even more romantic. A small detour to the lovely Alm, the Wiesle, is worth it: in the middle of the forest, a fragrant alpine meadow opens up, in which a small chapel and next to it the Wiesle rest. As in former times, as if time stood still up here. Also on the Hemrachalms, the next intermediate destination, the originality can truly be sensed.

The place name already reveals the landscape setting, from the long field. Down in the valley, you can see that Längenfeld was underwater long ago and appeared as a large lake instead of the long, wide fields. Shortly before the destination, you can still observe the wild wave dance of the Fischbach, the largest tributary of the Ötztaler Ache.

    Tips and suggestions

    Did you know that…

...several warm sulfur springs were discovered in the municipality of Längenfeld as early as 1864? Due to their soothing and healing effects, Längenfeld is now world-famous as a thermal region!

    Roadbook

From the Niederthai information point, turn right and take the road up the hill, past the houses and inns, always keeping right until you reach the sports field in the hamlet of Lehn. To the left, a wide forest road now leads, at first somewhat steeper, up to the Mauslasattel. At the top it flattens out again and at the end it goes downhill through dense forest. Those who want to take a break can follow the forest road to the Wiesle snack station.
The rustic snack station is located in an idyllic clearing. On the descent you leave the meadow and follow the forest path towards Längenfeld.
If you want to continue straight away, follow the path further through the forest. The path soon forks and you choose the left route towards Längenfeld.
On the ascending path you pass the unmanaged but inviting Hemerachalms, ideal for a break. From there a forest road leads down the mountainside to Längenfeld. On reaching the valley floor, you reach the hamlet of Dorf-Espan via an underpass. In Dorf, turn slightly right, past the houses in Espan to the Ötztaler Ache. From here, continue along the Ötztaler Ache, through the flat valley basin to Unterlängenfeld.
At Fischbach, turn left and follow the largest tributary of the Ache to the main road in Längenfeld. Along the sidewalk, wander through the town centre to the centre.
