Directions
GLACIER ROUTE TO THE HOCHSTUBAI HUT
First, you hike on the flat valley floor of the Sulze southwards, ascending the slope on the right, where the path splits and you turn right. You continue southwards over the western terminal moraine until the view opens to the Sulztalferner glacier. At the Sulztalferner, you must rope up, then ascend leisurely along the right glacier edge and pass the foot of the Wilden Leck. Finally, you ascend somewhat more briskly to the Wütenkarsattel (beware of crevasses!). Beyond this point, you descend in broken terrain to the Wütenkarferner glacier and pass a small lake. The glacier is crossed in a right arc and exited on the western edge – here the path joins the access route from Sölden to the Hochstubai hut. The last 100 vertical meters to the shelter are reached along a broad ridge.
