Map & elevation profile

Beautiful, sporty via ferrata with sections D/E, but mostly around C. A lot of arm strength is needed on the steep, partly overhanging passages.

A wonderful via ferrata in the granite of the Sellrain mountains leads to the 2807 m high Pockkogel. In the first section, you immediately reach a key section with a difficulty of C+. In the second sector, a good portion at grade D must be mastered. There are fewer footholds there, but excellent rock with natural grips. The summit ascent in the north face is certainly the highlight of this climbing route. The height and the north-facing location, associated with rather cool temperatures, create a high overall demand. However, a wonderful panoramic view awaits at the end of the via ferrata.

Climbing length and time required

750 m rope length. 3 – 3.5 hours, about 4.5 – 5 hours including the descent. Descent via the marked normal path down southwest to a notch, then further down to the Finstertaler reservoir and from the dam area right to the Dreiseenhütte, from the hut back down to Kühtai.
