You take the Acherkogelbahn up to Hochoetz. From there, a forest road leads left past the Kühtaile Alm to Balbach Alm. The path is wide and also suitable for strollers and wheelchairs with electric assistance.

For children, "KUNO's PULLEY" offers lots of fun!

Alternative hiking option: From the panoramic restaurant, first ascend to Mohrenkopf and then descend on the backside to Balbach Alm. Duration: approx. 45 minutes

Public transit

Travel comfortably and safely by train to the Ötztal train station. The final stop or exit point is ÖTZTAL station. Afterwards, you can conveniently and quickly continue by public bus service or local taxis throughout the valley to your desired destination! Getting there

Driving to ÖTZTAL. Located in Tyrol, ÖTZTAL branches south as the longest side valley of the Eastern Alps. Traveling by car, visitors drive through the Inn valley to the entrance of the valley and continue along the Ötztal. Besides the toll motorway, country roads can also be used. The following parking options are available:

  • Acherkogelbahn parking lot (fee required)
  • Rafting entry point parking (at the end of Oetz on the right side) (fee required)
  • Oetz center parking lot (fee required)
  • Overnight parking during multi-day tours: Oetz center parking lot, tickets are available at the Oetz Tourist Information Office.
  • Free parking in Ochsengarten when taking the Ochsengarten gondola - camping prohibited
