The secret of water inclusive hut taxi
Description
We begin this hike comfortably with the hut taxi. Ahead of us lies a varied circular hike that takes us from the Vordere Fundusalm to the beautifully situated Frischmann Hut (2,192 m). From there, we follow a narrow trail down to the Hintere Fundusalm and admire the highest-altitude Waal (irrigation channel) in Tyrol — the “Köfler Jochwaal.” Historical records show that as early as the Middle Ages, the meadows of the small hamlet of Köfels were irrigated and made fertile using this Jochwaal. After a rest, we either return to the Vordere Fundusalm or descend via the “Köfler Schartle” to Köfels, crossing the site of the “Köfler rockslide.” This massive landslide occurred around 9,500 years ago and left a unique geological legacy in the Ötztal Valley.
