Zentrum (Sautens)
On 15. February 2026 at 12:00

Description

The Flitschelarlauf in Sautens is a unique and traditional carnival custom in the Ötztal and takes place every three years. It is considered one of the most important highlights of the Sautner carnival and attracts numerous visitors from near and far.

The namesake and central figure of the parade is the Flitschelar – an impressive masked figure with an intricately crafted wooden mask, a flax wig, and an overall adorned with thousands of hand-sewn "Flitschen." He is accompanied by other traditional figures such as the Fetzelar, Singeslar, Schallelar, witches, bears, and other Maschgarar groups, who together create a lively and colorful village image.

The Flitschelarlauf traditionally takes place on Fasching Sunday and marks the crowning conclusion of the carnival season in Sautens. The parade is an expression of lived Tyrolean cultural traditions and is organized with great dedication and passion by the Maschgararverein Sautens.
Starting from January 30, the Barwagen invite everyone to join in the festivities, before another highlight of the Maschgarar time is celebrated with the Bearninfongen on February 7, 2026.

An authentic experience for those who want to witness Tyrolean traditions up close.
