Description

Exactly 81 years ago, on February 26, 1945, three agents on behalf of the US intelligence service OSS parachuted into the Sulztalferner and made their way through the meter-high snow to the Amberger Hut, where they broke in and stayed overnight twice to enable a safe and conflict-free handover of Innsbruck from the Nazis to the Allied troops in the following days from Oberperfuss. Peter Pirker – historian, curator, and author of the book “Codename Brooklyn” – recalls the events in a lecture. In addition, a glacier find related to the events will be presented.
