Challenging bike route through the wild romantic Fundus Valley, always accompanied by the Fundusbach – pure idyll guaranteed.

The starting point of this challenging mountain bike route is located in the village center of Umhausen. From there, follow the signs for the Ötztal bike path (No. 11) upstream until you reach the Ötztaler Ache. Turn right there and follow the signs towards Frischmannhütte. A wide gravel road winds up the west slope of the Ötztal in numerous switchbacks. Passing the front Fundusalm (not operated), you ride, accompanied by the babbling of the Fundusbach, further to the operated Hintere Fundusalm. The last climb leads via a wide gravel road to Frischmannhütte. Once at the top, enjoy the beautiful panorama with a delicious Tyrolean bread snack. Return to Umhausen by the same route.

This route follows developed paths and can be easily ridden with a motorized e-mountain bike or a classic mountain bike without motor.

Safety guidelines

Demanding MTB trails with difficult sections that require both good fitness and riding skills. Steep sections uphill and downhill are to be expected. The focus is on conditioning and technical biking on scenic alpine routes.

From the car park in Umhausen you bike along the broad forest trail until you get to the junction towards Fundustal (left) and Leierstal (right). Continue to Fundustal, past Vordere and Hintere Fundusalm and the crystal clear Fundus mountain lake. Here you ascend either to the ridge of Köfler Scharte and follow the Walweg water route which takes you to the hut – or you continue along the hiking path.

Public transit

Travel comfortably and safely by train to the Ötztal station. The final stop or exit point is the ÖTZTAL station. Afterwards, you can travel conveniently and quickly with public transportation or local taxi companies throughout the valley to your desired destination! The car journey to ÖTZTAL. Located in Tyrol, the ÖTZTAL branches off southward as the longest side valley of the Eastern Alps. Travelers reach the valley entrance via the Inn Valley when arriving by car and continue along the Ötztal. Besides the toll highway, country roads can also be used. Your trip can be easily and conveniently planned with the route planner.
