Map & elevation profile

The moderate mountain bike route is demanding but rewarded with the best food.

The start and end point of the mountain bike route to Gampe Alm is the Freizeit Arena in central Sölden. Facing the Freizeit Arena, start to the right and follow the Ötztal cycle path 11 to the valley station of the Gaislachkogelbahn. Upon reaching the Gaislachkogelbahn, turn right to get onto federal road B186, follow it until the turnoff to Gletscherstraße from the federal road. From here, head right up the steep Gletscherstraße, after two hairpin bends and some elevation, you will reach the intersection of Gletscherstraße and Hochsöldenstraße. Turn right here and follow Hochsöldenstraße towards Hochsölden. After about six kilometers on Hochsöldenstraße, a forestry road branches left and leads on a gravel path directly to Gampe Alm and Gampe Thaya. The effort of the ascent is richly rewarded with delicious food on the sun terrace of one of the most beautiful alpine pastures in Sölden. The quaint, flower-adorned wooden buildings lie on a small plateau amid green alpine meadows. The snack tastes twice as good here. On reaching there, the route returns via the same path to the starting point at Freizeit Arena.

The mountain bike route to Gampe Alm starts at the Freizeit Arena in Sölden. From there, ride straight past the municipal office and cross the bridge to reach Dorfstraße. Turn left there and follow the main road. The pleasant ride through the village passes sports shops and numerous places to stop for food. After about 1 km, turn right at the intersection before the BP gas station (marked H). Here, the road gently climbs above Sölden towards the hamlet of Außerwald. At the next fork, initially continue uphill along Lärchenstraße before heading towards Seestraße. At the next intersection, take the left path and continue along Außerwaldstraße. Soon, you will reach the first houses of the small hamlet Außerwald. After passing the Alpengasthof Grüner, take the next left fork and ride straight on until you reach the next houses in Innerwald. At the first houses, turn right and follow Innerwaldstraße through the hamlet. You will soon reach the intersection with Gletscherstraße, where you choose the right path uphill towards the glacier and Hochsölden. After about 1.5 km, reach the intersection of Gletscherstraße / Hochsölden. Here, keep right and continue along Hochsöldenstraße. After another 1.5 km, a gravel path diverges left from the paved road, which you now follow. The path climbs moderately uphill towards Gampe Alm. After a few more bends, you reach the beautifully located Gampe Alm. The return journey follows the ascent route back to Sölden to the starting point.
