Tobogganing and carriage rides
Speeding through Ötztal's winter
The speed rush may be one of the main reasons why tobogganing is so popular. In wintry Ötztal a sled or toboggan prove to be the best way of exploring the mountains - apart from skis. Choose from a huge range of toboggan runs and routes: ranging from family-friendly tracks to demanding runs, either on foot or comfortably uphill by mountain lift. And those who prefer to be drawn on a bigger sled by two horsepower can go on a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride.
Unrivaled fun on the toboggan
The 15 toboggan runs meander down the scenic Ötztal mountains, covering more than 50 kilometers. Already at the entrance to the valley families will find wonderful toboggan runs. Even in the high Alpine mountains there are several fantastic tracks. If you don't have a toboggan simply hire it at the rental stations on the spot. By night you enjoy even more thrilling adventures.
Toboggan excursion with all the family
Tobogganing requires a bit of experience. With a little practice even children can easily master short toboggan runs. Great advantage: the youngest ones love to be wrapped up on the toboggans, pulled uphill all the way to the mountain hut. While older kids enjoy the speedy downhill adventure.
Probably the easiest and most scenic route in Ötztal can be found in Oetz. The approx. 1 kilometer long course starts right at Lake Piburger See. Parents and their children reach the destination in almost no time.
Tip: For night owls the toboggan run is illuminated at night until 11.00 pm. More details can be found here
The toboggan run from Feldringalm is very family-friendly, too. Despite the steep section leading up to the Sattele car park at 1700 meters above sea level, the trailhead is quite flat at the start, followed by a slightly ascending stretch. The 2 kilometer long route is made to measure for families who enjoy a refreshment stop at Feldringalm.

Comfy lift-assisted tobogganing
Tobogganists in Ötztal don't necessarily have to climb up the mountain on foot. Gondola lifts or shuttle services also take them to the starting point of several runs. New: the toboggan run from "Stiegele" in Sölden. A shuttle bus running every 20 minutes takes tobogganists effortlessly to the starting point of the 1.5 km long track. Once a week it's also floodlit in the evening.
Lovely Wurzbergalm in Längenfeld can be reached not only on foot (in about 90 minutes) but also with a hut taxi. Rental toboggans are available directly on the spot (rental fee: approx. 3 €). Great sledding tracks like these are available within the entire Ötztal.
Another one-of-a-kind experience: night tobogganing incl. a stop in one of the jovial huts, e.g. at Alpengasthof Gaislachalm. Our information offices will gladly provide information on toboggan evenings and floodlit runs.
Horse carriage rides through scenic Ötztal
Gliding swiftly along the snow-paved road, engine noise and squeaky tires? No sign of it! The horse-drawn carriage is not all that fast but gives passengers the opportunity to enjoy the magic winter landscape to the full. In Ötztal there are several providers of panoramic outings with two horsepower.

Carriage rides are also available in high Alpine Vent. And just before the cold winter air makes its way through the layers of clothing and blankets, it's already time for a cozy rest stop.
