Bike & Hike
A new trend
The Ötztal has always been a trendsetter for e-biking holidays to suit all ages and preferences. Superb nature exploration on electric bicycles is available throughout the valley thanks to standardized bicycle models and the same technical basics. Therefore e-bikers find a number of specialized e-bike and battery change stations between Oetz and Obergurgl.
E-hiking makes a fine combination of cycling pleasures on electric bicycles and Alpine hiking. E-hiking is very simple: after renting an e-bike at one of the valley's sport shops you pedal uphill on broad forest roads with electric support until you reach Ötztal's quaint mountain huts. Here you leave your bike and get ready for exploring the higher regions of the Ötztal Alps on foot. What's best, peak conquests are possible without long and exhausting ascents and - at the end of the tour - you quickly return down to the valley on your e-bike.
This new e-hike concept requires a high level of organization throughout the Ötztal Valley. Primarily the e-bike rental stations – especially in Umhausen and Längenfeld – have been optimized. Every single e-bike was equipped with a bicycle lock. On the mountain huts separate bicycle storage rooms or areas have been installed, where hikers can leave their bicycle during the ascent to the peak.
