Wildspitze

North Tirol's highest mountain (3768 m) is not only a dream destination for many alpinists, but also a popular photo motif from a distance - as in this photo, which shows the mountain in a summery evening atmosphere. Our article "24 hours at Wildspitze" takes you to the iconic summit.

Piburger See

Lake Piburger See above Oetz is one of the warmest natural bathing lakes in Tirol. And also among the prettiest: be it in its summer or winter dress, the natural jewel always cuts a sensational figure in front of the camera. As in this picture, which shows mighty Acherkogel peak in the background.

On Bergmahderweg

Bergmahderweg is one of the eight favorite places of the locals in the hiking village of Niederthai, which is also known as Ötztal's sun-kissed balcony. Hermann Falkner explains HERE what makes the path, which is lined with fantastic viewpoints and benches, so special.

Gamskogel

2813 meter tall Gamskogel peak is Längenfeld's local landmark and towers mightily out of the wide valley basin. This photo shows the summit cross secured with wire ropes at sunset, looking out of the valley. By the way: a varied bike & hike tour leads via Nisslalm hut to the summit of Gamskogel.

Ice cave at Vernagtferner

Such colors, such shapes: an adventurous journey to the interior of an ice cave, as shown in this photograph of Vernagtferner Glacier near Vent, leaves a lasting impression. You too can embark on an expedition into the eternal ice with local and state-certified mountain guides in Ötztal.

Hochwilde & Wildspitze

Is that still a photo or already a painting? The view of the imposing mountain world of upper Ötztal seems as if it has been painted. This photo shows Wildspitze peak (3768 m) and Hochwilde (southern summit 3480 m and northern summit 3458 m) in a mystical evening atmosphere - a play of light and shadow in a class of its own.

Winter in Sulztal

On the very sunny side of life: this photo from wintry Sulztal, a side valley of Ötztal, is radiantly beautiful. From Längenfeld a winding panoramic road takes you to the hiking village of Gries, and thus to the heart of Sulztal. Surrounded by mighty 3000 meter high peaks, the place makes a perfect "base camp" for high alpine mountain adventures.

Evening mood in Farst

Farst, a hamlet of Umhausen, towers high above the valley floor like an eagle's eyrie. Hard to believe, but despite its extreme location, Farst is one of the oldest settlements in Ötztal. This photo shows the alpine meadows bathed in red light above Farst in the autumn season.

Stone arch in the BIKE REPUBLIC SÖLDEN

The stone arch in the immediate vicinity of Gaislachkogl gondola middle station marks the starting point of the "Teäre Line" bike route. And is at the same time the unofficial entrance gate to the BIKE REPUBLIC SÖLDEN, the somewhat different bike park. The landmark, seen at dusk here, makes a truly popular backdrop for group photos.

Mountain world around Vent

Snow-covered mountains as far as the eye can see: this photo, taken on the Vent ski touring loop, gives a clear view of the majestic summits around the mountaineering village of Vent and Schnalstal valley in South Tyrol. By the way, the multi-day ski touring classic from hut to hut is one of the most popular “Hautes Routes” in the Eastern Alps.
