Turn left after the Hotel Jenewein and follow the Gaisbergstrasse and over the meadow slopes to the entrance of the Gaisberg valley. The path runs close to the Gaisbergbach. Soon you come to a fork, both routes lead to the saddle of the Hohe Mut. The shorter and steeper path takes approx. 1.5 hours, the climb over the stamping point of the Gaisberg glacier 1 hour longer. The long ridge from the mountain station to the Kirchenkogel separates the Rotmoos from the Gaisberg valley. From the Mut saddle, take path 29a, descending to the Schönwieshütte. The stone pine forest, past the Rotmoos waterfall, is ideal for returning to Obergurgl.
