No matter where you spend your vacation in Ötztal, the next cross-country ski trail is guaranteed to be just a few minutes' walk away. You can enjoy cross-country skiing in the holiday villages of Ochsengarten, Umhausen-Niederthai, Längenfeld-Huben-Gries, Sölden, Vent and Gurgl. LINK "Niederthai" and LINK "Längenfeld" have also been awarded the Tirolean Nordic Trail Quality Seal, offering more than 70 kilometers of tracks – both for skating or classic cross-country skiing. In the evening there are 3 illuminated cross-country trails in Ötztal, which can also be used free of charge. They are located in Längenfeld, Umhausen and Niederthai.
Cross-country ski courses for everyone
If you have never tried cross-country skiing before, you can have certified Tirolean cross-country ski instructors show you the right technique on the cross-country ski trail. In Ötztal there is a wide range of courses to learn or improve the right sequence of movements. Another highlight for anyone who has ever wanted to give biathlon a try is waiting for you at the Niederthai cross-country ski center: Twice a week guests have the opportunity to take part in a taster biathlon free of charge.
Cross-country skiing until spring thanks to the high altitude
Especially in March, when the sun is warmer again in the Tirolean mountains, it’s a wonderful experience to visit the snow-sure high-altitude trails of Niederthai at around 1550 m and Gries at approx. 1600 m. As well the cross-country ski tracks in Venter Tal valley and Gurgl promise fabulous snow conditions for cross-country skiing until late spring thanks to the high Alpine altitude.
