Holidays for wheelchair users

No restrictions despite physical impairment

Physical disability does not necessarily mean that holiday fun is restricted. The best example: Ötztal offers especially recommended accommodations, restaurants and excursions for wheelchair users. The right information about disabled accessible infrastructure onsite ranks among the most important details, therefore a relaxing holiday is almost guaranteed. Because sometimes a small barrier is not a real problem as long as you know it before. More and more tourist partners focus on necessary adaptations for wheelchairs. Our service team can also provide detailed information: call +43 (0) 57200 300.

As a first step, we have identified already existing offers as part of a LEADER project. We have found countless offers that we can fully recommend to wheelchair users. Especially for accommodations and lodgings in the valley, we have defined very severe criteria and therefore chosen only accommodation providers that meet all the essential requirements for wheelchair friendly holidays. We also point out every restriction so that you can decide already at home if accessibility is still available in your case. You know better than we do that every wheelchair user has quite different needs. And we didn't want to completely exclude generally suitable accommodation providers that don't fulfill one or more requirements.

Other offers such as restaurants or leisure time attractions don't fulfill all aspects of wheelchair accessibility but they are basically suitable for wheelchair users. Here we have highlighted those leisure centers without stairs or steps, which have sanitary facilities accessible for people with physical impairments.

In addition, we have made a list of all places without wheelchair accessible sanitary facilities and with small steps and obstacles because we think that a visit is still possible and, above all, rewarding. In such cases we refer to personal statements of wheelchair users who visited all these places themselves and were still very satisfied. Further attractions not to be missed are the beautiful natural landscapes and breathtaking views, therefore we also suggested varied excursions to huts and Alpine pastures. We are sorry for any unexpected inconvenience on these routes.
