Band of Brothers on the slopes

In mid-October 2021, the entire BORA - hansgrohe team with several new faces gathered for the annual team meeting in Sölden. The top stars of the scene such as Jordi Meeus, Matt Walls, Nils Politt, Patrick Konrad, Lukas Pöstlberger and young talent Giovanni Aleotti were on the spot. On this occasion, team manager Ralph Denk and Oliver Schwarz, managing director of Ötztal Tourismus, also sealed the extension of their highly successful partnership for another year.

Strengthen your spirit while skiing

Top athletes, trainers, youngsters and companions: the annual Team Camp held from 12 to 15 October 2021, with more than 100 people from 20 nations took place in Ötztal in order to strengthen the BORA - hansgrohe team spirit. This year it was not only important to integrate countless new athletes and employees into the already existing structure, but also to get to know each other and discuss future strategies.

"In 2021 we experience a deep-rooted change - therefore it was all the more important for everyone to start in a good atmosphere," states team manager Denk, referring to the importance of this yearly event. One component is the balance between the focus on professional work and team activities such as skiing or hiking.

The professional cyclists proved that they not only feel at ease on two wheels, but also on two skis – also thanks to the ideal slope conditions on Sölden's Glacier. Accompanied by a ski guide, the "Band of Brothers" explored the glacier ski area and took the opportunity to get useful tips provided by ÖSV ski racers on the spot, such as local hero Fabio Gstrein who was preparing for the Alpine Ski World Cup Opening in Sölden.

Cooperation is being extended

As part of the Camp, the sponsorship between BORA - hansgrohe and Ötztal Tourismus was extended by one year. Both team manager Ralph Denk and the managing director of Ötztal Tourismus Oliver Schwarz were accordingly pleased. Preparing for the second half of the 2022 season, another Training Camp is already firmly planned in Hochgurgl during the 2022 summer months.

Work hard, play hard

The popular BORA - hansgrohe road cycling team has mastered an extremely intense and equally successful racing season in 2021. So, the team has more than earned a break in the Ötztal mountains.

In addition to several podiums, other remarkable victories were recorded. In May, Slovakia's Peter Sagan triumphed on the 10th stage of the Giro d'Italia by rounding off this perfect result with the overall win in the Tour of Slovakia. Lukas Pöstlberger celebrated a fabulous solo victory on the second stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné.

Not only were there great moments of successes to celebrate, but at the beginning of October also the 30th birthday of Patrick Konrad, who achieved a stage win in this year's TOUR DE FRANCE in the Pyrenees, and thus crowned himself the third Austrian tour stage winner.
