For many vacationers an essential part of a memorable holiday: the food. From the gastronomical point of view, a couple of nations meet in Ötztal, ranging from Italian pizza and Tirolean bacon dumplings to Viennese schnitzel or toque-awarded French cuisine.
The 15 km long Ötztaler Glacier road is one of the highest roads in the Eastern Alps, connecting Sölden (1,377 m) with the glacier ski regions in Rettenbach- and the Tiefenbach glaciers at over 2,800 m. Every curve of the road offers a new breathtaking view. The glacier tunnel is (tunnel patron Rosi Mittermaier) the highest road tunnel in the Alps, and connects both ski regions at an altitude of 2.800 metres and a length of 1,7 km.
