The valley of discovers, explorers & sportspeople

It is the longest and most varied side valley of the Inntal region: Stretching over 65 kilometers and five valley terraces, scenic Ötztal leads deep into the Eastern Alps. The climate at the valley entrance is warm and mild, where North Tirol's largest fruit growing area can be found and even wine grows. In its center Ötztal has wide open basins before it climbs strikingly towards the high Alpine landscape of mighty three thousand meter high peaks in the upper valley.

Holiday makers who come to Ötztal are not unlike the locals: They are very sporty, love activities and enjoyment. They like it authentic and genuine, natural and honest - and they prefer variety. Ötztal is a valley for people with a lot of curiosity and enough thirst for discovery.

Whether on foot or pedaling, there is a huge choice of tour options in summery Ötztal. You walk, trek, hike, climb through idyllic forests and meadow landscapes, from huts to Alpine pastures, on mighty rock flanks and across the eternal ice. On your bicycle you can either roll effortlessly on the valley-wide Cycle Trail, challenge your calves on exhausting passes, tour into nature's loneliness or surf the flow trails. So bring some time with you - there is really a lot to do in lovely Ötztal!

Leisure Time Tips in Ötztal

Action, adventure, adrenaline

Ötztal is a wild valley. It bubbles, rushes and rustles. It rises steeply and gives deep insights. If you like to feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins, you can do it on water, on rock and in the air. Canyoning through ravines, river rafting on waves and rapids, wakeboarding at AREA47, Austria's largest outdoor adventure park. Or maybe you prefer rock climbing, balancing at the high rope park or taking off while paragliding?

Floating effortlessly

Ötztal promises dizzy heights - and also steep terrain. If you prefer a more effort-saving climb, you can also take a panoramic ride on one of the valley's twelve summer mountain lifts. Between Oetz, Sölden and Gurgl they quickly whisk you up to the panoramic trails, summit tours and adventure playgrounds. Down on the valley floor you can comfortably embark on regular bus lines and glacier shuttles, and there are also additional hiking buses and hut taxis.
