Knappensteig Miner's Trail
Follow the tracks of the former miners who used this route for the transport of chalcopyrite, pyrite and galena. The recently installed Miners' Museum shows many interesting objects.
Start: cross the fields above the parish church of Sautens to get to the Knappensteig trail. This ascending trail leads past the historic mining galleries (so-called "Knappen" holes) and past a pre-Christian sacrificial site. A steep forestry trail leads to the turning point for vehicles (1,350m). From there you get to Bärental hut (1,650m - not serviced).
