GASTHOF KRONE

Right in the village center of Umhausen you find historical Gasthof Krone, a traditional inn built before 1620 AD. The western facade features a beautiful fresco painting depicting the "Wedding to Kanaa". Originally the painting stretched to the southern part of the building, but it was destroyed in the course of reconstruction works in 1684 - when the splendid oriel was built.

This traditional country inn also features a great variety of other artistic highlights such as the archangels Cherubim, Seraphim, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel below the windowsills. The small medallions have a Latin inscription of St. Antonius.

In 1900 the house was enlarged by adding an additional floor and a two-story oriel. The upper part displays the heraldic symbols of all families connected to this building. In 2000 the inn was completely renovated, since then you also find the heraldic symbol of Umhausen on the facade. In its interior the wonderful inn has a precious, wood paneled parlor on the first floor (oriel), dating back to 1648.

Today it hosts the civil registry office, a truly wonderful wedding place. The Marberger family owned the house between 1790 and 1998. Today Gasthof Krone belongs to the municipality of Umhausen. On the ground floor you still find the authentic inn while the upper floors host the local administration offices.
